"If I stay with you any longer, it'll make me fear death."
Shattered me in a way I could never explain. The depth of death is measured by the people in our lives. Before meeting someone who gradually becomes your entire world, becomes the air that you breathe, death is merely an inevitable destination. But after bumping into someone whose existence becomes your sanctuary, death suddenly transforms into something terrifying. Not because of what occurs after, but because everything it forces you to leave behind.
And maybe love was never meant to outlive death. Maybe it was always meant to give meaning to the days before death arrives. And Matsuri fears death because somewhere along the way, Kazu made living feel irreplaceable. She finally discovered a reason to desperately keep living.
We spend everyday doing what humans are supposed to be doing, believing time is what we have only to realize that time was never ours to keep.
