I don't think I'll ever call this as my favorite movie because I honestly don't know if I can put myself through watching this again. It left me feeling empty somehow. The part where their mother is found dead after the bombing completely shattered me. Seita tried so hard to hide the truth from Setsuko, pretending everything will be okay while he's clearly falling apart himself. Seeing how their mother got almost wholely wrapped with bandages around her body broke me too. Don't let me comment on that asshole of an aunt. Wdym two kids are a burden to you? At first I kept convincing myself that oh maybe she was just struggling cause everyone was also starving. But what pissed me off was when she kept comparing Seita and Setsuko to the people working. It was just cruel and infuriating. They literally just lost their Mom but you showed no ounce of empathy at all? And Setsuko's final moments were unbearable to watch tbh. Cause when Seita finally brought something nutritious to eat, Setsuko is already too weak. Seita looked desperate for Setsuko to recover but deep down yk how it'll end up.

When I've finished watching this, the phrase "be careful of what you wish for" instantly popped up. Every wish comes with a price. I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this but I didn't expect it'd be one my favorite horror watches of the year. This movie doesn't rush anything. From the way Bear hesitated to confess until everything started to crumble apart. It takes time allowing everything to build up. And due to that, every consequence and bad decision actually lands. Love that this movie didn't try to excuse what Bear did. It allows you watch the consequences unfold naturally and by the end, I wasn't thinking "Oh poor Bear" but more to "You reap what you sow." And dang Nikki absolutely stole every scene she was in. Great horror performances could be hard to come by, but she delivered them perfectly. Her acting felt natural. She didn't have to overdo anything to make you understand what she was going through. Carried so much emotional weight of the movie. How I wish I can experience this movie for the first time again.

There was a scene where the grandma dreamed of her parents asking her to follow them, meaning living in the other world. World of the deads. Since she was already seriously ill, it symbolized death quietly calling for her. That rings a bell of my own very sister whom had passed away back then in 2021. Before she passed away, and she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer herself too, she once dreamed of my brother's twin, who had died years earlier, inviting her to come along. Watching that felt eerily familiar. And made the film resonate with me on a deeply personal level. Some movies really don't only tell you a story, but they awaken you memories you thought you already buried. Back to the movie itself, in the beginning, M is someone I didn't expect I'd root for. Especially when he stopped staying with his grandma after knowing that she didn't inherit him the house. But this is why I love appreciate this movie even more. It doesn't sugarcoat stuffs, it doesn't put him on a facade where he was kind hearted since the beginning. The movie is truthful, is honest. M was greedy, he took care of his grandma hoping that he'd get the house as an asset. His kindness was tied to the reward. But then he realized that the time that is passing mattered way more than the house which is trivial. Oh by the way, 0.1 was deducted cause Kiang seriously pissed me off.

The plot unfolded along a path I could almost foresee until it came to the devastating scene where Jimmy broke down after learning about Ami's passing. Showing that life rarely grants us perfect timing. The unspoken confessions, the missed opportunities, and chances that taken quite nearly two decades too late. We often cherish how worthy of a moment is only after it has fleeted beyond our reach. What amused me the most was how gently the film treated nostalgia. Memories are best treated as something we can revisit, but never to live in again. Never to reclaim. Ami may have disappeared from Jimmy's life, but she never erased her existence that lives within him. And by the time Jimmy gathered the courage to "return" to her, all the remnants are the places she once visited and the dreams she never left behind. Perhaps this movie is trying to tell us that even when people don't last forever, the love they once gave somehow does.

Jamming gives a huge contribution to my day

Before meeting someone who gradually becomes your entire world, becomes the air that you breathe, death is merely an inevitable destination. But after bumping into someone whose existence becomes your sanctuary, death suddenly transforms into something terrifying. Not because of what occurs after, but because everything it forces you to leave behind. And maybe love was never meant to outlive death. Maybe it was always meant to give meaning to the days before death arrives. And Matsuri fears death because somewhere along the way, Kazu made living feel irreplaceable. She finally discovered a reason to desperately keep living. We spend everyday doing what humans are supposed to be doing, believing time is what we have only to realize that time was never ours to keep.

I wish I were a person made for the Oasis biopic

Been looping this more than I expected

I finally got myself to watch Apostle after a month or so, and honestly this movie was way darker amd disturbing than I expected. I lowkey thought it's gonna be another cliche cult horror film, but it ended up being this weird mix of folk horror, psychological horror, and brutal violence. It's definitely not something I'd recommend for those who are looking for an entertaining or chilling horror, cause this one is pretty exhausting and deep in some ways. The drill tortune scene, poor Jeremy :( I don't think I'll ever forget it. Jeremy was trapped underneath this wooden contraption while the giant drill slowly penetrated through his skull. The movie doesn't rush through it either. It makes you sit there and watch how he suffered while everyone around believing they were doing a favor for God. I lowkey wish Malcom had realised sooner. That Quinn is nothing but a manipulative scumbag whose world revolves around his greed for power and respect. Overall, I had a hella good time watching this. The violence in this movie was pretty brutal. It's relentless. Absolutely worth watching if you're into folk horror and something that's packed with religious symbolism.

A movie that proves in order to be meaningful, you truly don't need these earth shattering plot twists or emotional meltdown every 30 minutes. The voicemail format is honestly a smart choice. It's unique and different. I really liked how in this movie, Isabelle is not just another plot device. Eventhough she was absent almost throughout the entire movie, but her presence is everywhere. You get to know her through memories, through the way how Jill talks about her, through the things she left behind. What a beautiful way to build up a character. Overall, it's gentle, sincere, and surprisingly comforting despite the grief it carries.

Long after the credit rolls, this movie still lingers in my chest. After Alice's death, her family began to unravel secrets, worries, hidden affairs, and loneliness she carried wholly by herself. There's something profoundly tragic about discovering someone's true self only after they've left us forever. The true horror that encapsulates this movie is realizing that all this time Alice had suffered in silence when everyone thought everything was fine. Her family felt more like archives instead of companions. Forget the devastating sentiment, let's talk about how eerie it is. Not much to comment on that just how this movie hides details. Even after certain mysteries been resolved, there are always subtle shots proves there was something in the background. Generally speaking, this movie might not be everyone's cup of tea. But let the atmosphere sink in.

Ngl I thought this movie was going for a storyline about a bunch of kids going on an adventure but there's more to it. The unexpected emotional depth that I gained. What I loved the most was how natural the boys felt. They talked over each other, teased each other, said stupid things, got scared, laughed for no reason, and had these surprisingly honest conversations. None of it felt like a movie dialogue. Felt way too real. And the ending surely got me. Gordie's narration about how you never have friends later in life like the friends you had when you were twelve hits too close to home. Cause as the time goes by, friends will eventually become strangers. Everyone grows up and drifts apart.
