i'm trying to be as objective as possible when it comes to this movie because i know i'm going to be biased about anything resident evil 😭 i am not much of a horror film watcher/lover (as you can probably tell if you saw my backrooms and obsession logs), so i am definitely not the most knowledgeable when it comes to horror. can i say that i purely went to the cinema because it is based in the resident evil world (racoon city)? yes. can i say that i came out of the cinema liking this moving beyond it's resident evil relevance? yes. for me the most confusing thing i've seen on the internet is how people be saying how this movie is not loyal to the games. BROTHER WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT 🤡 the similarities were uncanny if you've played resident evil 2 remake (which is the game where i found most similarities, and also the fact that it is the one of the 2 games where it was set during the outbreak in racoon city) then you would be mind blown at how many references they managed to throw in there 😂 the obvious ones were in the first house he stumbled across: the first aid spray, the typewriter, the shotgun shells box (identical design to resident evil 4 remake btw), the diamond key then the ones i found similar were: potential herbs in one of the abandoned cars in the tunnel that chubby guy who resembled chief irons the sewers (pretty sure this one is universally agreed on as well among players) the parking lot the map reading (now that's going into the mechanics of the games) the maternity ward (that's a room you would find in resident evil 3 remake when you're in the hospital) then apparently some people zoomed in on the infamous street scene, and one of the shops was a gunshop named leon s kennedy ammos and guns 😂 that made me laugh so hard (justice for kendo 🤓) but all in all, the anticipation for each segment of the movie was really well executed, that is EXACTLY how the games go. you move forward with a different objective in different locations and meet different monsters and npcs, and the difficulty intensifies some jumpscares were predictable, some genuinely caught me off guard, and i appreciate that about a horror movie i would like to end this with: in the resident evil world, we are all bryan (if we were thrown into racoon city on september 30th, 1998, none of us is making it out alive 🤡) so to some haters that be complaining about how the protagonist ain't as strong as leon, mf he is just built different 💀 tf would the thrill be if they make another leon like they did back then with alice, that wouldn't be a horror movie it would be an action movie you definitely exceeded my expectations with this movie zach, loved the way you used the background of the racoon city outbreak and mechanics of the games
