Sometime back, say, in December, I remember writing a story. It was about a girl and it involved themes of dissociation, reincarnation. Her life was this sort of mosaic, different pieces of it, all in one. When my best friend read that story, she said it reminded her of this book. I didn't necessarily call my character an Ogbanje, though most of what she experiences are what an Ogbanje experiences. The main character in this book is definitely an Ogbanje. An Ogbanje in Igbo mythology is a spirit child that never completes it full life cycle. It'll always die, and come back to the world afterwards only to die again. It delights in bringing pain or torment to it's earthly parents. It despises this world. (maybe I'd create a collection on mythology.) Anyway, that's what the book is about. it follows Azaro, an Ogbanje, who doesn't want to die again. He wants to stay in this world. I love it because of the looping storytelling. It just takes you on a ride.
