I think I got influenced by repov to watch la la land lol i understood it as the willingness of artists to sacrifice for their craft I find it so admirable. it reminds me of the artist dreams I used to have

Iced coffee was great! Toast was also amazing. Perfect location, filling toast and delicious coffee. No complaints.

It could have been that it was 9PM and we hadn’t eaten since noon or so, or the fact that we had like 4 restaurants refused us before they let us in… but this must be hands down the best grilled meat I’ve ever had in Japan

wong is a master of composition for each shot. this is the shit I’ve been wanting to reference and draw since I started taking painting more seriously. the colors and framing of each shot are nothing short of gorgeous, albeit intentionally claustrophobic! the only times we see Chen and Chow out of the stuffy apartment, it’s pouring rain or they’re behind window bars that resemble a prison cell . additionally, while “nothing happens” in this film I just felt so sad for the two leads. I really felt the east-Asian culture of repression, carrying on with a loveless marriage for the sake of saving face. divorces are so rare in my family too, despite some couples being clearly bad for each other. as my first WKW film, it was amazing. I enjoyed the ache, and hope I’ll never live a life like this.

Jesse Plemons was amazing. loved the twist(?) reveal at the end, Emma Stone is just damn good at being manipulative and sketchy loved the music, my heart rate skyrocketed at the testing scene, and… yeah wow I really enjoyed that! my initial impressions last night: - Fuller is Bezos or and stand-in for a billionaire CEO - a theme I identified was the full circle of sensationalism’s resurgence in contemporary media, on the CEOs that profit from it - the movies are all about hating the rich lately!! (I say after this and One Battle, not remembering what I watched last lol) sooo good!

Miso beef tongue was killller. Raw wagyu was great, lemon flavor was a bit overpowering. We also had horse sashimi… which was surprisingly good too. Everything went perfectly with the rice. Only minus a half star due to the noticeably harsh fluorescent lighting and cramped seating area 🥲

even though they lost, sharks really put up a fight 🥹 this was my sister’s first game as well, and one of her highlights was a little brawl that happened LOL. my friend Eric was telling us about all the hockey lore and relationships between players and leagues. I have concluded that anime and hockey go together well, surprisingly. we immediately found that there are ofc hockey shipping artists. there would have been free tacos if they got to 3 goals

Combo came with salad, rice and miso soup. Included many dipping sauces (radish, curry, poached egg in sauce, salt and pepper, etc.) My friends went twice during their trip, so I was surprised at how okay it was. It definitely tasted delicious, but we had to share an plate-sized grill across the whole table and the meat didn’t really end up getting too warm… The location (inside Yodobashi camera) was also pretty warm… like if I were cooled off I’d be much more ravenous, probably.

Solid, super fluffy. I think I needed to adjust to Japanese sweetness cuz it’s a lot less sweet than US desserts.

saw no trailers for this so I had noooo idea what it was gonna be about was in for an awesome ride that, like others have said, did not feel that long. I am not a movie fan and typically check my watch a lot, but didn’t do it at all for this one it was kinda giving magical realism at some parts despite being an action thriller about the all-American act of protesting. overall fun and enjoyable, and coherent to a poor-attention-spanned person like myself.

finished this yday after buying it on Sunday! i am gonna guess that this will be my least favorite volume of the series, cuz enjin’s mask was on most of the time and we don’t have the whole cast there yet. Gachiakuta’s art style is shape-focused, with an emphasis on volume. everything has a very satisfying form, even just the swoop of Rudo’s hair sometimes.I lost track of how many times I stopped to stare at the linework because I was so curious what the artist’s thought process was. Urana is a master of fisheye or warped perspective too! judging by the many times you see rudo or others in impossibly cool poses. tbh I tried reading this last year, but dropped it since I usually have to wait for anime to fill in a lot of blanks for me (voices, colors, interpreting settings). same thing happened with dunmeshi 🥹 from just this volume, I think the concept is cool and makes me want to treasure my items more 🥺

ok tbh season 2 was losing me a bit there but I’m glad to have finished it. what a cool show! despite the nonsensical tech jargon being thrown around hah makes me hopeful for original American(?) animation
