The Raven Boys
책
Ok what did I just read? One of the most underrated YA Fantasy novels with beautiful worldbuilding, storytelling, and equally understandable and loveable characters? Yes, yes, a hundred times yes. To be honest, when I first began this book 4 days ago, I thought the writing style was a bit difficult to digest, but got intrigued by the story anyway. Then sooner, the writing grew on me, and so did the plot and the characters. What amazed me about this book is that — wait there's a lot of things, but first things first — seemingly unimportant characters had their own roles too. For example, at first I didn't think much of Whelk and just deemed his presence insignificant, just like Ronan did. But then when he got a chapter for himself, I realised, well maybe, he ain't that unimportant after all. And that's exactly how it turned out. And I LOVED the twists. As someone once said, the best twists aren't the ones you can't see coming, but the ones which make you go, "Why didn't I see that coming?", and that's EXACTLY the twists of this magnificent piece of fiction. At first, when I read that Gansey died, but was brought to life, for someone who didn't deserve to die lost his life, I thought, "Oh, Czerny maybe." But then when I heard it was Noah it made even more sense 'cuz of course he just turned out to be disturbingly honest and not sarcastic, when he said "I have been dead for 7 years". And that was such a beautiful twist. And the even better twist was when I found out that Noah is Czerny, who was murdered by his so-called best friend WHELK. Wow. Just wow. And the characters, oh lord, how can one write them so beautifully such that every single one of them got their own, unique characteristics, but can still be understood and loved deeply — except Whelk, Adam's parents, and Declan; Well can Declan be spared? I'm not sure, I'll let you know later. Gansey — the boy who is both aged and ageless in a single glance, or like from Adam's eyes, "Adam was struck, as he occasionally was, by Gansey’s agelessness: an old man in a young body, or a young man in an old man’s life.". The Gansey who loved all his friends more dearly than he did himself; the Gansey who accidentally threw fancy words in between seemingly mundane conversations, not to sound fancy, but because that's how he grew; the Gansey who always tried to be the reasonable one and put on a smile on his face even when he wasn't alright. And Adam. Such a realistically complex character, is he. Adam who'd rather die a proud man than ever chose to bow his head; Adam who believed so much in his principles and loathed pity; Adam who KNEW he was being abused, but still felt a strange love towards his abusers — his parents — and was aware of his Stockholm Syndrome. And what about Ronan? He's yet again such a beautifully written complex character whose actions betray his cold exterior. Ronan, who witnessed something no child should and was forever undone by the sight and put on a cold armour to protect himself from vulnerability; Ronan who always pretended he didn't care about anything, but his actions betrayed his exterior; Ronan who cares about his friends more than he'd ever like to admit to the world; Ronan who adopted a little crow and named her Chainsaw; Ronan who didn't think twice before beating Adam's dad. Now Noah is undoubtedly the one who deserves the least hate, for he's such a sweet soul — the sweetest soul, is he. Noah who was such a good friend to Whelk despite the latter being difficult to love and undeserving of it; Noah who, even after 7 years of his death, found it difficult to digest his best friend's betrayal; Noah who had never lied; Noah who never snitched, despite probably knowing everyone's deepest and possibly darkest secrets; Noah who was undoubtedly such a sweet friend to the 3 younger Raven Boys even as a ghost; Noah who immediately liked Blue and felt more human with her. And finally, our main protagonist, Blue. Blue who loved being helpful, but often wished helpful was less of a synonym of useful; Blue who swore she wouldn't cross paths with the Raven Boys, yet did; Blue who has high self respect and didn't take too long to be offended by what she thought Gansey offered in their first official meet; Blue who came to understand Gansey and Ronan despite her negative first impressions; Blue who immediately felt like home to Noah, and was immediately loved by Adam; Blue who had such a beautiful relationship with her family. There are even more reasons why these characters stole my heart, but these would suffice for now. Overall, on reading this book, I felt I was a part of this universe and the whole ley line adventure along with the Raven Boys and Blue. The writing style, which I came to adore, also offers vivid imagination capabilities to its readers. In a nutshell, I'm obsessed with this book, and am quite disappointed that I didn't read it sooner. But it's as they say, better late than never. So yes. 5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One word: Perfect. This book was such a rollercoaster of emotions. Like it's been so long since I've read a book which made me feel like this. It's like I'm truly living the book and not just reading to taste a bit of their lives. This might be my most favourite book from The Raven Cycle, and one of my most favourite books EVER. This book made me connect to the characters more. I find it really difficult to put it down, which made me stay up late till 3 or 4 dawn. I did feel that the 'villain' didn't stay upto standards, but now I'm questioning his...villainism. Nevertheless, this book was such a joy (and occasionally, sorrow) to read. Definitely recommend it!! 6/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I watched it two days back and OMG this might be my most favourite Haikyuu match EVER!! Like trust me, I LOVED the match against Shiratorizawa (my 2nd favourite) as well as the one against Inarizaki (3rd). But this one holds a special place in my heart. Maybe because just like Karasuno and Nekoma, I have been looking forward to this match since season 1. And the best part about this? Their sportsmanship (and their friendship ofc). Like I loved and rooted for both the teams equally. And I loved the evolution of both the teams and the way they took their win and loss. This was such a well-directed movie I didn't feel the time pass by. It's soooooo good definitely a 6/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ok this season was...a lot. In a good way ofc. I mean tbh, I'm not a huge fan of this new artstyle, but I think they did a pretty good job (although the previous 3 seasons had better artstyle). And I loved this season a LOT. Like Karasuno in the NATIONALS? WAHHH I felt like a proud mom. And everything about it was great. Though what Hinata did in the beginning was quite... embarrassing... I'm glad it became useful. Like the final match with Inarizaki OMG! Woah no spoilers but...it was EPIC. And I LOVEEEE the twins heheh (Tsumu and Samu). And ofc Bokuto aahhh I love him SMMM..And Akashi. Only Akashi can handle Bokuto and his mood swings hehe (but I LOVE both of em smmmmm). And our Nekoma babies. I felt soooo proud when Kenma got through that tiring match. Like he was working hard FOR HIS TEAMMATES — HIS FRIENDS!! Ahhh I was sooo happy when he called them his 'friends' heheh. Yeah so there's a LOT I love about this so I'll change my mind of giving it 4.5 star and give it a solid 5 hehehe. Peak! Go watch it everyone. You WON'T regret it.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

WAHHHH! This entire season was of one match. ONE MATCH. I mean no complaints though. It's totally valid, considering their situation. But yeah, as always, Haikyuu!! never disappoints heheh. Awesome!!!

Same as my review of season 1. Peak!!!

PEAKKK. I started Haikyuu!! a week back and binged season 1 in about 3-4 days. No regrets. I think I found one of my new favourites!! I DEFINITELY recommend it. You don't even have to know anything about volleyball to watch it. Just think of nothing else and go for it. The BEST part about Haikyuu!! is that there are no villains (even if some fake 'fans' try to encourage hatred of my KING OIKAWA (THEY CAN NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU BABY)) and the fact that all of them are just a bunch of kids with dreams, who work hard for it. I love love LOVE the animating way — we feel sad even when the opponents lose. And every moves are realistic too. And the characters aren't perfect. Each of them is flawed in their own way, which makes them feel human. So yeah it's amazing. My only regret is that I didn't watch it sooner. So go for it!!!

I was listening to a spotify playlist on shuffle and came across this masterpiece, and heaven, why is this song so underrated? I fell in love with it the first moment I heard it and since then, I've been listening to this on repeat. This song deserves to be as famous as Sailor Song, heavens her voice is so ethereal I can listen to it all day.

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it back when Found Heaven was released. And to this day, I still love this song so so much that I don't know if words can express how much I love it. This song is such a beautiful piece of art — especially the bridge; OH THE BRIDGE — and I wish it'll be more well known.

Deciding to watch this movie one random day more than a year ago, was one of, if not THE best decision I've made in my life. I honestly don't know how to explain my love for this movie in words, when it deserves recognition beyond comprehension. So I'll just share one of my favourite dialogues from this wonderful piece of art. This movie is definitely a 6/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Is there an option to give 6 star rating out of 5? If yes, then that's what this boom deserves. After reading Six of Crows, I thought, "Wow, now how can the second book make me love this duology more?" and then I read Crooked Kingdom and realised that yes, this is BEYOND PERFECT. I usually prefer physical books over ebooks, but for this one, I didn't care. As I couldn't immediately buy this after SOC due to certain reasons, I thought maybe I'll read it online, and I loved it so much. That's how good it is. When a physical reader could love a book so much in it's online form, then the book won in life. Definitely a 6/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this for the first time back in 2022, and to this date, i.e., 4 years later, no other book — other than Crooked Kingdom, which is the second book of this duology — has come close to making me so in love with it. Absolutely amazing. Perfection in words. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finished season 1 like 2 days back and this is PEAK WHY DID I WATCH THIS SO LATE AAHHH.. I usually find it difficult to watch anime series and I've only ever successfully completed JJK (which is peak btw) and this is the only anime series after JJK which hooked me with the storyline right from the start till the end of season 1. And the reason this is a 4.5 and not a 5 is uh...the siblings. Iykyk. And the Port Mafia boss is kinda uhh gives me groomer vibes? But considering he IS an evil dude makes sense ig. But the siblings aah they're SO DAMN WEIRD like come on I LOVE being weird I'm weird but NOT THIS WEIRD. But other than that this series is PEAK. And I LOVE the fact that the author (of the original Manga) was such a lover of literature and I could SEE IT. As an avid reader myself, I love how from BSD we can see the author's passion for literature (especially the classics) which is woven into the story in the littlest ways. Anyways, this, my fellow friends, is a review from someone who finds it difficult to just start and also finish animé so PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY..

4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I enjoyed reading this. I couldn't put down the book, or my phone when I'm outside. At home I stay up all night to read this. When I'm out, I read the pdf. It was indeed an enjoyable read. But I'm afraid it didn't reach my extremely high expectations. That doesn't mean it's a bad read. Just that I expected a bit MORE considering how much I loved the first book. Occasionally, I felt that some moments seemed unnecessary (though I'm sure they may not have been). The characters still got my immense love. What I love the most about them is that they're all real. No one's perfect. All of them feel like ACTUAL TEENAGERS facing actual teenage problems and emotions. Nevertheless, go for it everyone. Just don't have unrealistic expectations.
