Devil May Cry
영화 / TV
Thoroughly enjoyed this series. I was surprised at how the audience sentiment is was online, especially having no prior knowledge of the game (and finding out that this was a poorly adapted game). As a casual/normie though, I think the plot and premise was solid, albeit a bit stretched at times. Some negatives about the series, erm.. Lady swears too much that it takes away the bad-assery of it all, and I would've liked more time with Vergil and his story, but I suppose that's the focus of the third season. It was also dumb of them to sleep while waiting for the medaglia to be broken, like in the weeks/months you never let guard down and the one time it's critical you do? Anyways, great show, if that makes me tasteless then so be it. Will be watching season 3 if/when it comes out

A 'meh' book I have no clue if I just had lower standards for the previous book, but man did this read annoy me a lot. With George gone, Shaun centers as the main narrator, and between him wanting to punch everything and everyone, drinking coke every other minute, and overall being a brat it was a tough one. Just in the first chapters you get him putting hands on Dave for the minorest inconvenience, and we're supposed to believe that everyone is used to it, 'comfortable even'. Repetitiveness aside (which I'm well aware the author does in the first book), the whole run around to different CDC locations and secret laboratories, WITHOUT telling anyone, thus risking their lives in the process, seemed wildly irresponsible. I get the need to keep secrets, but when there's been multiple attempts to wipe half or all of your crew, I'd think to at least make a post on your forum/blogsite, to put pressure on the CDC and not have your inevitable deaths brushed off as accidents. Don't even get me started on the incest. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I read it. This is not the Shaun and George I remembered from the first book. It seemed remarkable that they had a platonic, sibling bond brought upon by their upbringing and circumstances. Why the hell did we need some love drama between Shaun, his dead sister, and Becks? George didn't even mention any inkling of romantic interest towards Shaun in Book 1! I will say, the plot for the CDC was solid. Each reveal felt impactful and left you feeling more curious about what the hell they were doing with KA. Though the motivation was admittedly a bit weak, it's something I could get behind. I'm just relieved we'll be going back to George as the narrator (hopefully). I swear the Shaun in the first book was fun and enjoyable. They straight up murdered his character here and everything that made him Shaun.
