this is how my soul sounds btw ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ . there are no words to describe my love for this song ♡ it masks itself as a teenage love song but in actuality metophorizes the parasocial relationship between fans & idols, with newjeans being heesoo’s imaginary friends whom she has to let go of to grow & enjoy life. this means a lot to me as someone with major escapism tendencies who also uses media to run away from reality. aside from it’s beautiful meaning, the song sounds so ethereal & nostalgic, washing u with a sense of saudade. the girls’ angelic vocals only serves to enhance this feeling, especially hyein’s humming at the opening & ending. the music video relays the story perfectly using bewitching imagery & symbolism, truly a masterpiece. oh & i miss newjeans ..
