watched this movie after a long time and it is genuinely SO SO beautiful. the cinematography is brilliant and the soundtrack is heart wrenching. especially the placement of sufjan Steven's songs- futile devices as elio waits for Oliver, mystery of love as we see the green hills, and visions of Gideon in the very end.
I understand why this movie is said to be problematic, and I agree to some level. However, their relationship is romanticized because we see everything through Elio's eyes. this is especially evident if you read the book, which is in a narrative format.
anyway, awesome movie love it so so much. the soundtrack and sufjan stevens are both very dear to me.
