if nostalgia was a film. this movie literally broke me, i watched it twice cause I don't want this to end. it's abt a girl who'd still mourning the death of her fiancée's although it's been 2 years already, and she wrote a letter to his old address that's no longer exists but unexpectedly got a response back. the one who replied was infact and old friend of her fiancee who has the same name as him. then she wrote back memories she shared with the fiancée when they were in middle school. at this point we can clearly tell that they both like eachother but just in a denial. and he also have this habit to write his name to every book he borrowed from the library. but at the end we discover that he was actually intent to write her name but no one seem to notice cs they both have the same name!!! and later we also discovered that she was love at first sight or like a first love for him. AND I FEEL BAD FOR THE OTHER GIRL. cause wdym you discovered that your fiancée who you still grief deeply over two years later after his death, and later you found out the girl he used to like but never have a chance to be with LOOK EXACTLY LIKE YOU. maybe this is just jealousy me talking and they also already covered this in the film but i still feel... bad???? the sorta teenage romance was cute I know I understand that, I sorta rooted for them to act on their feelings too but damn if I were his fiancée i would actually be mad. and the fact that we never know the relationship between him and the girl he engaged to makes me feel sad, cause i wanna know what he's like from her perspective. and you know what the fiancée's was passed away because of a climbing accident. and friends said that beforr he died he always sing this one song although he dislikes the singer. and i found this comment that said «Before Itsuki died, he sang the song Blue Coral Reef by Seiko Matsuda (he didn't even like this singer), but there are lyrics "My love flows with the South wind" to remember his first love. The place where Itsuki boy used to live (also where Itsuki girl lives) is Otaru city in the north of Japan, and the place where Itsuki boy lives now is Kobe city in the south, and the southern wind blows from south to north!!!» which makes me even more mad??????? that's why at the end (when we found out that at the last book he borrowed before transferring and ask her to return it back, in the back of the name list it's a picture of her that he draw, which i think it means that all this time he likes her) i don't know if i was actually crying because after 20 whole years later they found out they both like eachother or crying because i pity the other girl. and also the book that he borrowed was Proust's in search of lost time, which I want to add on my tbr list. and also it's quite fitting with the whole situation in the film. this is a whole 'maybe in another life' type of movie. what would happened if they were actually acknowledged eachother feelings at the time. a missed opportunity I suppose.
