much of this is plodding along and then something really interesting will happen and then we plod along for a bit. I did really enjoy the ending where Grann discusses the impact of this event, the literature it inspired, the people who weren't able to tell their side of things, and the reasons the story is so different depending who you ask (empire).

We Need to Talk About Kevin
电影/电视
take your birth control ✨✨✨ but for real, Lynne Ramsay loves a script where a couple is happy and free until they decide to have children and then the man is still happy and free while the woman is terrorized.

Wuthering Heights
音乐
while I have mixed feelings about the movie, the soundtrack is a GOOD TIME. House is, of course, incredible but every other song is a delight as well. wall of sound is stuck in my head.

Shiver
so creepy! if you've watched the junji ito animes floating around, you know a lot of these stories. Ito is the master of horrific imagery that is often based in the mundane
Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits
good place to start with Dylan. picked up a used copy at the record show yesterday
Blind Willie McTell - Studio Outtake - 1983
I picked up a 7" today with take 1 and take 5 of this on it. the evolution between those takes is fascinating to see. I'm really glad the bootleg series exists because I love getting to hear a bit of Dylan's process.
DON'T TAP THE GLASS
picked this up at a record show today I think this is just a lot of fun and danceable.
Notes to John
i still don't know about the ethics of publishing this. regardless, I think there's some interesting discussions about parenting and how much someone's own upbringing impacts the way they raise their own children. I also found the balance between wanting to protect someone because they're not doing well but them not doing well because they feel overprotected compelling to read about. overall, it's an interesting read but not necessary to understanding Didion, I think.

I Want To Disappear In The USA
The Story So Far is one of those bands that truly get better and better with every release. when I think they can't top themselves, here they go. do me and yourselves a favor and go listen to the song Jump the Gun right now!
Sociopath
I mean, I guess. idk, this was fine but the writing isn't the best. it was interesting especially in the first half but it got repetitive after that so the back half is a big of a slog.
A House With Good Bones
this is fun. unsettling and then chaotic, exciting ending with humor throughout. if you grew up in the southern US, I think this will be especially relatable
