gay rep from 100 years ago but the gay died okay, I believe I found this online and decided to read this because I love queer horror themes this was actually pretty interesting from start to end, bizarre plot. minsan nalang din ako makabasa so this served as respite sa bigat ng mga araw ko lately pretty creepy honestly ‘yung ending, while doon mo talaga mararamdaman ‘yung pagiging horror nung plot, is (1) a bit underwhelming—because I honestly expected something more, especially regarding michio, but (2) also quite devastating. I just hate that ganoon ‘yung ending line

this had been on my tbr since a few months ago then I saw a physical copy during mibf and did not hesitate to buy it first read it nung nag-pprocrastinate ako sa depex and was doing everything to avoid studying… it’s honestly a good book to get over your reading slump (especially since I had been very busy since freshman year began) kasi it’s a collection of short stories, transcripts, and internet forums na interlinked. though one disadvantage is that you have to read nang tuloy-tuloy kasi kapag hindi, you’ll forget things about it as I did pero very quick read siya honestly, maybe about four hours max horror pala ‘to, and it honestly scared me a bit ajdvjabfks hindi naman siya ganoon ka-bad but yes! fine horror lit still. ang angas din talaga ng format niya like I really recommend buying the physical book! ang ganda niya rin aesthetically may movie siya pero honestly not planning to watch it kasi I read online na may binago sila from the book and hindi talaga ako mahilig kapag ganoon. but I think sikat na japanese director ‘yung gumawa so maybe y’all can watch it muna before trying out this book kung na-interes kayo! ayun, good experience + planning to reread

I recommend this so much. A short read (about three hours)—a lipogram and epistolary surrounding the classic panagram: “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”. the myth of perseus and medusa, in medusa’s perspective. of course, when you read a retelling the ending does not change, no matter how much you want it to. very short; pretty fucking melancholic.

queer cult classic for a reason! it was hilarious! meryl streep is a goddess! loved the ending! and i do understand love triangles but two beautiful and successful ladies fighting over SUCH man!? unfortunately quite realistic…. though i too would marry someone who could change my face (a plastic surgeon) also that scene where mads was in bed with all those contraptions in her face, with the goal of emphasizing her vanity and excessive pursuit of youthful beauty, and the realization that now it’s such a normal sight among women and girls sa social media using those things to look pretty hit me straight in the guts

another old gay book yes! with a hopeful ending this time. okay, aaminin ko na I only truly liked this book mula chapter 15. and this has 23 chapters, so I had to slog through so much. nangangapa pa kasi ako sa first read (I read the synopsis months ago, and it hasn’t stuck with me—except the ending—so I went in plot-blind, and I haven’t watched the movie!) and that’s why I didn’t really get to savor the first several parts. but I think this would be a beautiful second read now that I’ve got a clue what the characters really felt. the characters naman… wala ako masyadong opinyon kay therese, siguro kasi so much of her character revolves around carol. I thought sometimes she was very selfish and self-centered, and naawa ako sa parts na ‘yun kay richard (though at the end I disliked richard), I didn’t hate her. on the other hand, carol, hindi ko talaga siya maintindihan nung una! she was so capricious in therese’s pov that I actually felt unsure paano nila maaabot ‘yung happy ending. but once you catch the hints about the things she did for therese, you’ll get it. for me, once carol had confessed to therese, doon lang talaga ako nagkagana na ituloy ‘to. ‘yun. for sure I’m gonna watch the movie and reread this another time (not necessarily for analysis, but just to see what I missed last time). and no it was never casual for these two therese had been obsessed with carol the moment she laid her eyes on her it was like BAM kapag tumingin ka akin ka
