i think, the reason why a lot of people are miserable fucks is because we have all been taking things for granted. we can easily access everything now, which inadvertently made mundane things: like calling someone, lost its sanctity because its value lied in the effort it took to do. calling someone back in my parents day, felt like a big thing because not everyone (in where i lived at least– a 3rd world country) had a landline. you had to have money just to be able to connect to someone important to you. every second of every call counts because it was money spent, which was also hard to get back in their day 😭.
nowadays, a lot of people engage in superficiality cuz calling someone is not really that special anymore. but really, bless the telephone cuz one call from a friend, a family member, a lover can change your mood instantly.
the singer of this song is also very precious; he reposts everyone's post that uses his sound and also those that do covers of this 🥹🥹🥹 AND HE'S AN OPENLY BLACK GAY MAN IN THE 80s (or was it 90s) a time when colorism and homophobia were rampant all over the world!
